Our Story

A lot can happen over forty years and we have been fortunate here at North Ranch Country Club to have filled those years with countless rounds of golf and tennis, new family traditions, and an expanding Club family. With the changes over the years to adapt to the new trends of country clubs, we have grown and challenged our Club to be the pride of Westlake Village.

Our History

Years before our beautiful course was designed, the land where North Ranch Country Club now sits used to have a much different purpose. Known as the “Conejo Ranch”, “Albertson Ranch” and eventually “Russell Ranch”, this land originally was home to thousands of cattle. But due to a harsh drought in the late 1800’s, these cattle were soon moved to a new home and Hollywood started using the land to film movies and TV shows. As with several other locations in the Conejo Valley, North Ranch Country Club used to be the film set for several popular western films such as Gunsmoke, Buck Rogers, and a couple episodes of Tarzan.

In 1963 American Steamship Club purchased the 12,000 acre Albertson Ranch and the beginning of North Ranch Country Club was born. The course was originally developed in 1977 and in 1990, the members purchased the Club from Prudential Insurance, making North Ranch Country Club a member-owned Club.

Over the last 27 years, we have had hundreds of members join the North Ranch family by joining us for rounds of golf, tennis matches, or attending one of our many social events. Since then, our course and Clubhouse have grown, allowing us to expand our services and provide more to our members and their families. As a staff, we are always working on improving the member experience and striving to make our events more memorable.

In the years to come, we are excited to expand our services, grow our membership and enhance the experience here at North Ranch Country Club, as to not only continue to allow us to stand out in the community, but to also honor our history here in the Conejo Valley.
